AFTER NEARLY 5HOURS OF SITTING ON THE PLANE, WE HAD FINALLY REACHED SHANGHAI!We felt very excited when we first reached Shanghai, and it is quite a cold place! The temperature at that point is around 12 degrees to 15 degrees celsius! And in Shanghai, the sun starts to rise at 4:30am! Unlike Singapore which the sun rises at around 6am in the morning.

the belt where we took our baggage

the other belts

After we met Liu Da Ge, he brought us to the bus pick up point and we waited there for bus and it was ver cold at that time

Then we took a bus to the Science Museum! In the meanwhile, our coach: Liu Da Ge told us a lot of interesting things in China! Like the food in China are more oily and salty! And asked us to figure out why the bottom of the trees is painted white. Then in the end, before he left in day 3 he told us the answer. It is because some insects will harm the trees, and the "white paint" is actually plaster, then the insects won't eat the trees! He also told us that the coffee in China is very plain and tap water cannot be drank.
After around 1hour, we reached the Science Museum! Firstly, we went to the Animal World!

The museum!!

The world of animals!

They look so real!

The giant panda.

HEY SHORTIE, I'M TALL! ARE YOU JEALOUS?

It seemed all too real...!

The bat cave!!

An animal’s body plan is dominated by the lifestyle and landscape on which it depends and in which it resides. Only the fittest can survive under the severe rigours of natural selection. Over the course of evolution, the environment is the dominant force shaping the body plan of wild animals.

Let's run for our lives!!

Don't disturb me!!

Then after that we went for a ride in an apple! It is a very interesting ride as this ride is actually bringing you through the digestive system! The cartoons inside are very cute and interesting! Also they're in 3D, hence the big spectacles.

Snakes are a type of reptiles with highly degenerated limbs. They move by twisting their bodies or by means of the undulate movement of abdominal scales. Thus they can slither freely. Snakes also have highly specialized jaws, with great flexibility of movement between ligaments and joints. Thus they can swallow food larger than their heads.

Can you see the gigantic snake?

It's so enormous!

Resources of the rain forest
The rain forest conceals an abundance of valuable resources. These include medicines, building materials, foods, raw materials for industry, etc. But excessive exploitation destroys much rain forest life before it is even recognized.

Distribution of the world tropical rain forests

There are three largest areas of tropical rain forests, mainly concentrated in the Amazon Basin. In Asia, rain forests can be found in Africa, mainly in the west and the center of the continent. In China, rain forests can be found in such regions as Yunnan, Taiwan and Hainan.

We are enjoying our ice cream!

Some facts!

What are Genes?

Genes carry an organism's genetic information and each gene has its own use. All od the genes of an organism make up its genome. The genome controls the organism's characterictics and life activities.

The paramecium

The paramecium has the structure of a straw sandal. Cilia extend vertically from every pore, and their waving propels the paramecium forward in a spiral motion. The paramecium has two nuclei, the larger one controlling nutrition metabolism, the smaller one the heredity process.

Diatom

The diatom is a type of single-celled algae, and is the most important producer in the sea. The shell of the diatom is over 10um in diameter, but boasts an infinite variety of beautiful patterns. As siliceous shells have a long preservation life, they are a rich mineral source.

Time flies! and now we have to proceed to our next destination which is Shanghai City Exhibition Hall!

Photo taken at the lobby

There are 6 floors in the Shanghai City Exhibition Hall. The lobby. The lobby has an artistic model of "Shanghai's Morning"(depicted as picture above). It integrates the landmark buildings of various times of Shanghai into an organic whole, which is very imposing. It starts the prologue for tourists to visit the place.

You can drive either speedboat or car here..

After the first 2 stops at Shanghai, Liu Da Ge brought us to restaurant on the ship and that was also our first meal in Shanghai!

The resaturant in the boat. It doesn't look like it is from this view.

The food that we ate.

Not long after, everyone went out from the restaurant with a heavy stomach and the next place to go is just nice for us to digest our food which is to go SHOPPING!!

Third stop of the day is of course... NANJING ROAD!
We went there to shop for things that we can buy back to Singapore. Shopping is what most of the girls would enjoy most. There was lots of shops down the whole road.

Later on, at our free time, our group decided to take a tram ride after a tiring and long shopping.
In the journey on the tram, we saw the huge crowd of Nanjing Road. Nanjing Road is equivalent to Singapore's Orchard Road whereby it is a long street with many shops and buildings.

The pictures below are some photograph we took in the journey...

Tall buildings that we can see

An old building for shopping

A fashion store

The tram that we took
LAYLIN and JIAJIA on the tram

WAIMEI and ELINE on the tram
the shopping mall at the other end

Shanghai has MRT too!

people shopping

A police car we can see on the street of Nanjing Road, which looks like a golf cart!

We also bought a very special dessert!
This desert cannot be found in Singapore. It was very delicious, however felt freezing cold after eating it as the weather is rather windy and the dessert is also very cold.

The wires that were hanging freely over our heads.

The restaurant where we had our dinner. It's a short walk from Nanjing Road

The food we ate, as you can see most of the dishes are not left much.

Everyone had a heavy and delicious dinner for the day and off we go to our hotel.Even though the surroundings seems not as glamourous as other hotels do, the suites are rather comfy as it is a new hotel.

The main entrance of the hotel and the bus that we are using for the next few days

The following pictures shows the lobby of the hotel

Computer, connected to the internet, that's why we could get in touch with our friends in Singapore! (For the first two days though.)

You could get water or even hot drinks here(coffee&tea)

The comfy bed!

Air-con, television and electric thermos flask.

The long mirror for us with hangers for our clothes.

The transparent bathroom. This picture was taken from the view of the bed.

The rest of the remaining time were for us to get bath and do our day by day reflection as a group in someone's room. (Waimei) I personally enjoy the time for us to do our reflection as it makes us recap what we did and what we had learnt for the whole day.By writting it down in the reflection journal will make us always remeber how you feel on that day , what had happened , what had you learnt and etc. As we are discussing as a group about what we had done and learnt today , it makes us to to learn more because some important facts that you might missed out but your friend would had heard it and all of us can share all these little facts during the reflection session. When all little facts add up together , you would had learnt alot just for a day and that was the purpose of this trip and to make us to work together well with friends and being independent. Off we go to sleep in our cosy room and get ready for more and interesting places of interest for us tomorrow!
