This is our first school for us to visit in this trip which is Huashi Experimental School. After the first 3 days of shopping around Shanghai and Wuxi, we now have to get serious and remain disciplined in the school. Anyway we really learnt alot of things in the school and it was really an eye-opening tour for us around the school.
We walked around the school to explore what the school had. We passed by a kindergarten class and all the kids there were adorable. They greeted us by saying with their innocent yet playful voices, " Good Morning!''.This is the bed where the small kids have their naps.. isn't it cute?

After the tour around the school, we were given a lesson by the teachers there. The teacher taught us important notes that we have to take note when earthquakes comes as Si Chuan had just encouter a 7.0+ Richter Scale earthquakes(12 May) and many people were dead because of this natural disaster. We could never prevent natural disaters to occur but we can do things that may save your life from getting killed in a natural disaters like earthquakes, tsunami, tornado, etc. We learnt about what we have to do when we encouter earthquakes and how do we know that an earthquake is happening. Even though, very luckily Singapore would not encounter earthquakes but it is also important for us to know what to do when we encounter earthquakes. No one can be sure that in your lives you will never encounters one at all! The teacher also told us about why earthquakes would happen. I really find the lesson very interesting and meaningful as we are studying Geography now so it is good that we know more about the earth and how earthquakes are formed. As in Singapore we would not encounter earthquakes so we did not really learnt alot about it and the in School, we would only do fire drills and not earthquake drill. In this lesson we have a chance to do earthquake drill after the teacher had explainned what we have to do when earthquakes occur. I really enjoy this lesson alot......

We were listening attentively when the teacher was telling us about the earthquake that happened on 12 May 2008.

The teacher was showing us example on the buildings shaking when earthquake occurs.

Later, we joined a Secondary 2 class for Chinese lesson and here are some observation...
-They will do reading ontheir own.
-Their classroom tables are in a row.
-They did not wear school uniform.
-The students there are very disciplined
-When the students speak, they speak in a united manner, as a class.
-They volunteered themselves instead of having the teacher getting a student to do a particular task.
-The teacher do not catch them for long hair or ankle socks.
-The students do not reject what the teacher asks them to do.
-When they were asked to recite, they recite it loudly and clearly.
-They were very quite when the teacher was explanning something.-The students do their research before a chapter starts. The research is very detailed, which impressed us.

After we had the lesson with the Secondary 2 students, we get on the bus and proceed to another school and we arrived just in time which is 2.28pm which is the time that earthquake in Sichuan occured. Goverment of China had made a annoucement that everywhere in China, the flag has to be flown at half mast. And also, everyone are supposed to observe silence for 3 minutes in the memory of the people who died in the earthquake.

The flag at half-mast.

Students were already assembled at the parade square before we get there

We joined them and observed silence for 3 minutes.
3 minutes later.....
We proceeded to their pottery room. A female teacher taught us how to make different things out of a clay. As in school we seldom have a chance to use clay to make things on our own thus most of us enjoy this very much.
